Andrew Wilkie, who looks like he will be the Independent member for the Tasmanian seat of Denison, is on the money with his comments that both parties are lying about Australia's involvement in the war in Afghanistan.
Wilkie has called for a serious national debate about this terrible war that Australia has supported and actively prosecuted. He told ABC Television:
‘‘One of the big lies of this federal election campaign ... is that we have to be there to fight terrorists for ... national security. We certainly do need a debate about why we’re there.’’
