dispatches on everyday life, social and political realities, the cycles of history, the complexities of civil society, political poetry and song and the struggle of being a good citizen whilst resisting corporate hegemony (and having a laugh) from one of the most isolated cities in the world.

My favourite US journalist has new book that names corporate power as the greatest threat to democracy
Chris Hedges new book Empire of Illusion has just been released and I have finally received the copy I ordered some time ago. Chris Hedges's work has been featured on this blog a number of times before. He is undoubtedly my favourite American journalist. Hedges is a Pulitzer Prize winning journalist, war correspondent and author and the author of the bestsellers War Is a Force That Gives Us Meaning and American Fascists . He has written 9 books in total.
He is currently a senior fellow at The Nation Institute and the Anschutz Distinguished Fellow at Princeton University, and writes for many publications including Foreign Affairs, Harper’s, The New York Review of Books, Granta and Mother Jones. He is also a columnist for Truthdig.com
More detail on the book will appear soon on this blog but here is a link to his articles on the Truthdig site
